Top–Seeded Fighting Irish First Collegiate Team to Wear Soon-to-be-Released ROME RX3 Glove

NEW YORK – May 15, 2015 – Maverik Lacrosse announced that the University of Notre Dame is the latest elite-level team to wear the company’s most advanced lacrosse glove, the MAVERIK ROME RX3. Currently in use by several members of Major League Lacrosse, Notre Dame recently became the first collegiate program to debut the glove, which incorporates innovative and exclusive technologies to ensure exceptional comfort, protection and cooling.

“We’re excited to launch the MAVERIK ROME RX3 glove because it’s built to help players maximize speed and performance,” said Drew Adams, Marketing Manager for Maverik Lacrosse. “Designed for the expert and advanced player, we’ve utilized state-of-the-art materials to enhance durability, protection and comfort, such as our 37.5TM liner that evaporates sweat away from the glove, helping to keep your hand dry while maximizing your grip.”

The MAVERIK ROME RX3 features PORON XRDTM foam in key areas to enhance protection. PORON XRD is soft to the touch but hardens on impact to provide superior protection across the thumb and index finger areas. The innovative material is exclusive to Maverik Lacrosse and Cascade Lacrosse, both lacrosse brands within publicly-traded Performance Sports Group. The ROME RX3 also features a QUATTRO+TM palm with AX SUEDETM to provide a durable, soft and natural feel between the hand and shaft for unmatched handle consistency. On the back of the hand is a FLOWCOOL venting system to allow for maximum air flow.

Beginning on July 4, players, teams and associations can go to factorycustom.com to design, customize and order ROME RX3 gloves. Notre Dame, which is playing in the NCAA Division I quarterfinals this Saturday, wears a custom gold and blue MAVERIK ROME RX3 with a Fighting Irish shamrock embroidered on the glove’s cuff, as well as each player’s number. The ROME RX3 glove will be available at authorized retail locations in September in white, black, navy blue, royal blue, red and gray.

Scooping up Your First Lacrosse Stick: 3 Things to Know

lax-sticks

Do you remember getting your first lacrosse stick? The overwhelming excitement, the anticipation, and even the weeks of convincing your parents to finance the whole operation. But that doesn’t matter now. The day has come, and you’re getting your first spoon!
If that day hasn’t come for you yet, or you’d like to experience that feeling again…
Checkout this Complete Lacrosse Sticks Buying Guide
Otherwise, continue reading on to find out the 3 things you need to know before buying a complete lacrosse stick.

1. Your Head is More Important than Your Shaft
Whether the lacrosse head or the lacrosse shaft is more important to a player has been a topic of great debate for years. We tend to think the head takes the cake on this one. If you have the freedom to afford the best shaft AND the best head in the game, then by all means please do! But not everyone can afford both. So we are forced to choose.

Here are your options:
Buy a great head that comes with an okay shaft
Buy a great shaft, then find an okay head
We choose the great head with an okay shaft all day. Disagree? Tell us in the comments. We think your head is your baby. It’s the bread and butter of your face-offs, your shots, your passing, and your catching. If a lacrosse players soul was stored in his lax gear, it would reside in his lax head. Thankfully, most complete lacrosse sticks come with a great head, and a decent shaft. You can usually snag a Gait Torque (guys) or STX Exult (girls) on a decent shaft for around $100. Or if you’re a beginner, opt for the Warrior Torch (guys) or STX Fortress (girls)

2. Know Your Rights
If you’ve been playing lax for years, then this might be review for you. If you’re a new laxer, then listen up: knowing whether or not your stick will be legal in a lacrosse game is crucial for both you and your team. If you get caught playing with an illegal stick, boom: automatic penalty and man-down.
Make sure you get this right guys:
X – Legal ONLY for college
U – Legal for both high school and college
Ensure your head isn’t too pinched, and pocket isn’t too deep. The refs will find you, and will penalize you.
Girls, make sure your pocket’s aren’t too deep and those refs can see the ball above your sidewalls!

3. It’s Not the Stick, It’s the Player
We’ve all seen it before. The new laxer who was convinced that by buying the best lacrosse stick out there, the lacrosse gods would somehow grant him superior lax skills. Well here’s the truth: you gotta earn your skills. Each and every one of them.
Even Paul Rabil and Jen Adams were first-time lacrosse players at some point. They started at square one just like every one of us.
So what’s our point? Don’t get too fixated on your first lacrosse stick. Put the time in playing wall ball, passing with friends, and hustling your butt off in practice to develop solid skills. Then, come next season, you’ve earned a better lacrosse stick.
So what are you waiting for? Go scoop up your first lacrosse stick and hit the wall!

Buying a Lacrosse Goal: The 4 Things You Need to Know

uhaul

Like any piece of lacrosse gear, buying a brand-spanking-new lacrosse goal can be intimidating. What brand do you buy? How much should you spend? Will having your own lax goal really improve your game? Well our friends over at Lacrosse Scoop wrote an entire lacrosse goals buying guide to answer these exact questions.

Go check it out. Now. But in case you’re feeling lazy, here are the spark notes…

1. Top Brand Names Don’t Matter

Let us explain. Traditionally when you buy any new lax gear, from heads to gloves, you make your purchase from a proven lacrosse brand like STX, Brine, and Warrior. Well, that’s all changing.

There are tons of newer brands launching top of the line lacrosse field equipment. You’re now seeing brands like Gladiator, Predator, and Rukket making a name for themselves. We’ve seen first-hand the lacrosse goals these guys are offering, and they are truly impressive.

2. You Don’t Need to Spend a Fortune

Your wallet is safe. With these newer brands like Gladiator, Predator, and Rukket entering the lacrosse market, having your very own lacrosse goal in your backyard is now affordable.

See for Yourself:

Here are current prices for some of the best value lacrosse goals on Amazon….

Gladiator Goal – $59.95
Champion Goal – $93.50
Rukket RipIt Goal – $129.95

Under $60….Seriously?! In the past you’ve had to spend well over $100 on a Brine or STX lacrosse goal. Spend just a little more, and you can scoop up a lax net that’s foldable. Which reminds us….

3. Get a Goal You Can Easily Move

If you can, buy a lacrosse goal you can fold up and easily transport. Most of the time, your net will sit in your backyard for easy access. But believe us, you will be moving it from your backyard, to the practice field, to your friends house, to tournaments and camps. The other option is to buy a heavy lacrosse goal and then rent a U-Haul anytime you need to move it!

The Gladiator lacrosse goal we mentioned above won’t fold up, but it’s lightweight and easy to move. But if you want a lax net that will actually fold up into a bag, go with the Rukket RipIt.

Now here’s the reason you need your very own lax goal…

4. Your Shooting Skills WILL Improve

True story. If you were to ask any Major League Lacrosse player the exact lacrosse shooting routines they applied to take their game to the next level…..shooting on a lax goal every day is on that list.

When mastering a new skill like improving your shooting, repetition is key.

Having a lacrosse net sitting right in your backyard to easily practice on will help you score more goals come game-time.

The Final Scoop…

For just under $60 bucks and a little sweat you can take your lacrosse game to the next level.

We guarantee if you spend 20 minutes a day shooting on your new lax goal that you’ll not only shoot faster and score more goals, but you’ll make more friends. All of your buds will be getting in line to come over and rip some shots on your new goal.
